At ECO 2025, Yazen presents data from 30,000+ patients, showing 16.6% weight loss after 18 months and 70% adherence to treatment with its digital care model.

Yazen presents strong research results with lasting weight loss and high adherence to medical treatment for weight loss

At the European Congress on Obesity (ECO) in Malaga, Yazen presents data on over 30,000 treated patients (in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany and Spain), showing significant sustainable health improvements with its digital care model. With an average weight loss of 16.4% after 12 months, maintenance of weight loss after 18 months, as well as higher adherence to treatment than seen in studies, the results confirm that digital care can be an effective and long-term alternative to traditional obesity care.

The Yazen model, which combines modern medication, lifestyle changes and psychological support via a digital platform, has now treated over 30,000 patients. In the data Yazen presents at ECO, including through an oral presentation and two poster presentations, a study of 2,008 patients shows that the average weight loss was:

  • -8.3% after 3 months
  • -12.9% after 6 months
  • -16.4% after 12 months
  • -16.6% after 18 months

A large proportion of the patients achieved their target weight during the study period and then continued to work on their lifestyle changes in order to maintain their healthy target weight in the long term. The study also shows that, on average, women lost more weight than men (-17.6% vs. -13.4%) after 18 months. In addition to weight loss, significant improvements in blood pressure, blood lipids, blood sugar and liver values were noted.

In another study, which is based on an analysis of data from 25,824 patients, it is confirmed that a very high percentage of patients (70%) are still in treatment with drugs and the Yazen model after 12 months - a significantly higher figure than previously shown in published scientific studies.

– The results confirm that our digital model not only leads to lasting weight loss, but also improved metabolic health. The combination of individualised medication, lifestyle support and continuous follow-up creates a sustainable care model for obese and overweight patients, says Martin Carlsson, co-founder and medical director at Yazen.

Individualised care that provides better results and fewer side effects

An important reason for Yazen's good results is that so many patients choose to remain in treatment over time. While other healthcare providers often escalate the dose of medication to the maximum level regardless of the patient's response, Yazen works with continuous dose adjustment to optimise the effect individually, without giving more than necessary. This means fewer side effects, lower drug costs and better overall well-being.

Patients get the dose they actually need to achieve satiety, control hunger and improve quality of life, without having to use or pay for more medication than they need. This person-centred way of working means that the majority of patients achieve their goals with a significantly lower dose than in clinical studies. Even so, as many as 70% are still in the programme after 12 months and 60% after two years. The results clearly show that a long-term relationship with Yazen means better conditions for achieving sustainable and long-term weight loss thanks to the parallel support in the form of lifestyle changes, which continues even when the dose of medication can be gradually reduced and for as long as needed

A new standard in obesity care

Obesity is a chronic disease that requires continuous and multidisciplinary treatment. Yazen's model includes:

  • Personal doctor and health coach (nurse, dietitian or physiotherapist)
  • Individualised medication with modern anti-obesity drugs
  • Psychological support for patients with eating disorders and emotional obstacles
  • Educational programme and digital community for support and motivation

The model enables flexible, accessible and continuous care via a digital platform, which gives patients the best conditions for a sustainable and healthy lifestyle change.

– We see that patients who receive the right combination of medication, lifestyle support and digital care have a much higher chance of succeeding in their weight loss journey. It is time to change the way we look at overweight and obesity treatment and adapt care to the patient's needs, concludes Martin Carlsson.
